At 5 Family Ranch, a scenic wedding venue in Southwest Minnesota, we love highlighting the incredible talent of photographers who bring wedding days to life through their lens. In our Photographer Spotlight series, we feature amazing Minnesota wedding photographers who have either photographed here or would love to in the future.


Today, we’re excited to introduce you to Sydney Leigh, a Luverne, Minnesota wedding photographer with nearly a decade of experience capturing love stories in a natural, true-to-life style.

1. What’s your story—how did you get started as a wedding photographer?

My sophomore year of college I bought a camera just for fun trips coming up. One of my friends got engaged and asked me to do her photos. She posted them and people just started asking me. Built a business from there.


2. How long have you been photographing weddings? Approximately how many weddings have you shot?

9 years. 140 weddings exactly 😉


3. How would you describe your photography style in a few words?

True to color edits, true to life moments, in between for "posed photos" and candids.

4. How far in advance should couples book you?

App. 1 year (maybe even sooner for weddings between May–October).


5. What packages do you offer, and which is the most popular?

6–10 hour packages. 8 or 9 hour package is the most popular!


6. Are you the photographer who shoots the wedding, or do you have a team?

It is usually just me! A second shooter can be added on. An associate photographer is only sent if I am deathly sick or in labor/maternity leave!


7. Do you charge a travel fee? If so, for what distance and what does it include?

Yes! Only for weddings 3+ hours away from Luverne, MN.

8. Are albums or prints included in your packages?

No, but they can be added on if desired!


9. How long after the wedding do couples receive their images, and how are they delivered?

Sneak peeks within 2–3 business days. Full gallery within 2–3 months.


10. What is your cancellation/refund policy?

I require a non-refundable retainer to book. More information on this is explained in the contract I send over to my couples prior to booking!


11. Bonus: What’s your favorite spot to shoot at 5 Family Ranch—and why?

I am a huge fan of including all aspects of your venue throughout your gallery, but the outside area around 5 Family Ranch is truly stunning.
